About Us

Just Checking was developed as a result of talking to the families of people with dementia, who told us how much they worry about their relative who lives alone.

In 2004, with a UK government Research & Development grant we developed and piloted this innovative system with several UK social services authorities. Now 130 of the 205 UK local authorities use Just Checking for assessment and care planning, and thousands of professionals and family users log on each day.  The company is independently owned by its management team.

We understand the importance of home, and how its familiarity helps people with short term memory problems to function.  We love our home – a refurbished saw mill situated right next to a canal in the middle of the English countryside.  We appreciate the history and beauty of the old, and combine it with new technology to enjoy a good quality of life.  We hope Just Checking offers the same to our service users and the people who support them.

We’re a team of health and social care professionals, customer support staff and ‘techies’ who develop and maintain our system so that it is dead easy to use. In the UK, our team of occupational therapists work with our clients to build Just Checking into their health and social care services.  Many of us have personal experience of a member of the family living with dementia.

In Australia, we’ve just started.  Ellen Bragger, our business research manager, and an occupational therapist, is piloting Just Checking with organisations that are involved in dementia care. Ellen moved to Australia from the UK in 2011, having been part of Just Checking from its very early days.  She knows the system inside out and has worked with scores of organisations to get the best out of Just Checking.
