Evidence

Just Checking is a 'telecare' system developed and manufactured in the UK. Telecare is a very new area for health and social care services in Great Britain and evidence of its effectiveness is beginning to be reported by early adopters. Its greatest impact is when it is used as part of an integrated care and support service, but this makes it all the harder to provide data on the effectiveness of a single piece of technology, rather than the whole service. A number of evaluations which have involved Just Checking in various English counties are reported here:

University of Nottingham/Nottinghamshire County Council - Nottinghamshire evaluation of Just Checking Telecare System, March 2010

Leeds Partnerships NHS Trust (mental health trust) - Just Checking 1 Year Pilot Report - Giving People with Dementia a Voice, June 2009.

Journal of Dementia Care - Just Checking: Lessons 3 years on, May/June 2009

Herefordshire County Council and PCT - Evaluation of mental health intermediate care service, March 2009.

Dept of Health - Evaluation of Just Checking as an assessment tool in Staffordshire, December 2008.

Dept of Health - Evaluation of use of assistive technology for adults with learning disability in Cheshire East, December 2008.

Journal of Assistive Technology - Evaluation of an activity monitoring system for people with dementia, December 2007.
